In the Sound Options group, click to open the Play Sound list, and choose the Play across Slides option from the resultant drop-down list, as shown in Figure 6, below. They only make an appearance when you are working with a particular slide object which can be edited using special options. Contextual tabs are special tabs in the Ribbon that are not visible all the time. The Sound Tools Option tab is a contextual tab. Select the audio icon to activate the Sound Tools Options tab on the Ribbon, as shown in Figure 5, below. You can choose the When Clicked option, but Automatically works best. At the same time, PowerPoint brings up a message window asking how you want the sound to start in the slideshow. Figure 4, below, shows the inserted audio icon that you'll probably find right in the center of the slide. This action will insert the sound in the slide. Locate the sound file you want to play, and click the OK button. Doing so opens the Insert Sound dialog box as shown in Figure 3, below. On the Insert tab of the Ribbon, choose the Sound | Sound from Files menu option, as shown in Figure 2, below. Navigate to the slide where you want the sound to begin playing, which is usually the first slide of the presentation.
